If you’re anywhere near Platte City, or in town on a layover at the Kansas City airport, you need to check out 816 Dispensary. This place absolutely nails the balance between quality, knowledge, and atmosphere. First off, the mural is peak Kansas City, super well done. It feels local, intentional, and not like some generic chain spot. Speaking of that, they’re a true micro dispensary, family owned, and you can feel the difference right away. The budtenders here are top tier. Everyone I’ve talked to is genuinely knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and actually listens to what you’re looking for instead of just pushing product. Whether you’re experienced or brand new, they make the whole process comfortable and even fun. Another thing that really sets them apart is what they carry. The cultivators on their shelves are also micros, so you are getting boutique craft cannabis that is grown with real intention. It shows in the quality and the overall experience. Also, their merch is legit. The shirts are actually cool, not the usual throwaway designs, which says a lot about how much pride they take in their brand. Overall, the vibe is just right. Clean, welcoming, a little bit elevated without being pretentious. You walk in, feel taken care of, and leave with exactly what you wanted, a key Kansas City experience or something even better. 816 Dispensary is doing it the right way.
