I've always been happily greeted entering The Grove. The staff is knowledgeable, advising what best suits my needs. My last visit was exceptional!!!
Anthony is the best!!! Not only does he know his, "stuff", he has a great sense of humor and great people skills. Anthony answered all my questions and concerns and didn't make me feel like an idiot, not like those "other" places. Frank, another associate, was also very friendly and helpful. Was my favorite please but moved, decided to go back since it was great….Nope. I placed an order at 5:43 and so I call at 7:20 since i haven't heard anything. The guy who answered was so baked he couldn't answer any questions, so he hands it to Jasmine. She proceeds to tell me that something happened and I should be getting a text, I said that is why I am calling, almost 2 hours later and no text or email for confirmation. Jasmine says..Oh your a repeat customer so you dont get text anymore. I was shocked and reminded her I am a Repeat customer, and I always got text before. So she responds with oh yea, you'll get a text soon 🤦♂️. Im shocked by her just openly lying so I said, You realize you are contradicting yourself sayd yes and no right…? Silence on the phone for like 15 seconds…so I break the silence and say do I need to get a refund? She replies oh now he's on his way. Turns out I wasn't charged either and so canceled the order. I do have to say the driver did act respectful and professional even tho he was the messenger. But yea, I know it's a dispensary but man, maybe not get so backed you make lies as you talk then stay silent. – Jonathan Monge

THE GROVE IS ROBBING STATE VERIFIED MEDICAL PATIENTS AND REFUSING REFUND/REIMBURSEMENT.
I am a valid MMIC holder (one of less than 2800 in the state of California) and on 3/26 this SHADY establishment over charged me $11.83 in state sales tax. As a state recognized MMIC holder, I am EXEMPT from state sales tax. It is this way in EVERY dispensary in the state – apparently except for this one.
I returned shortly after, that same day about 30 minutes later politely pointing this out (this happens all the time, at many different retailers, no big deal). I even had a receipt from a previous purchase at the SAME location with the correct taxes applied (only the excise tax). The front desk lady tried explaining in vague language that the tax structure had recently changed and they had been audited. She also tried saying the difference in receipts was due to the discount applied. That is entirely false. Essentially, she tried to deflect and gaslight me into believing I was in the wrong. I’m used to this though, it actually happens all the time at other shops. The retail workers usually just aren’t aware of the actual rules. She brought out her manager (a guy), who took her side and further reiterated their audit and this “change” in taxes that somehow aren’t at any other dispensary in San Diego. (I frequent a lot of them).
Unfortunately, after about 25 minutes of back and forth, I had to leave due to being in the middle of my work day and said thanks.
When I got home I noticed that jungle boys had actually done the same thing, that same day.
Fast forward to exactly a week later, 4/2. I stopped by jungle boys to get refunded/reimbursed. They apologized for their mistake and it took a total of 2 minutes.
I then arrived at The grove now for a SECOND TIME attempting to be refunded/reimbursed. I waited 20 minutes to speak with a manager – this time a woman. She at least agreed with me and said that I was correct, I should not have been charged these taxes. However, she was unable to compensate me due to “system permissions” and she “had to call her IT guy”. I waited for another 20 minutes while she assisted other guests, and then finally she spoke with someone on the phone for a while. At the end of the conversation, she told me she’d be unable to provide me with any refund/reimbursement today (after being there for 45 minutes) and that I could try coming back tomorrow. That’s the best they could do. Come back a THIRD TIME?!?! For what, the manager to say I’m wrong or she can’t get the IT guy to make it work? Come on.
This is the WORST experience I’ve EVER had at a dispensary in my 11+ years of being a patient.
I would advise to STAY AS FAR AWAY as you can from this place and their shady tactics. Taking advantage of medical patients of all people is pathetic. The management and ownership should be ashamed.
I will be filing a formal complaint with the Department of Cannabis Control and whatever other organizations I need to make sure this business is appropriately checked. Clearly whatever “audit” they went through wasn’t effective or it was just a lie to get me to shut up.
SHADY!!!!!!!!!!!! I strongly urge you to bring your business elsewhere. Not only will your dollar go further, they won’t jerk you around or try to rob you like this place will. – luke ratcliffe
